Church of England calls for Capco and the Council to work together to sort out school site

guywilkinsonThe Area Dean for Church of England parishes in the Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham, Canon Guy Wilkinson, made the following statement on the decision by the DfE to defer the opening of the
Fulham Boys School:

“As clergy of parishes with families whose children have at the last moment been denied their expected places at Fulham Boys School, we are deeply concerned for their educational and emotional wellbeing. It is
not right to deprive children of a school place so suddenly and so late and when other schools have already agreed their intake. We are also anxious about the headteacher and staff who have committed themselves to the school and now face a very uncertain future. There do not appear to be any outstanding regulatory issues and the education plans and the pre-opening OFSTED had been signed off by the Department for Education. Since there is also a clear demand for secondary places at a school of this kind, we urge the Local Authority and Capco to work with the DfE and the Governors of the FBS to find an early solution in the best interests of the pupils and the staff of the school.”
